C.J. Blessum is a musician and composer based out of Bozeman, Montana who specializes in emotionally driven music using guitars, piano, and an assortment of virtual instruments. Cleanhead was created in 2021 as an auxillary outlet to explore instrumentation and composition with no bounds, limits, or restrictions. Simply the creative process from C.J.’s mind to your ears.

C.J. began his pursuit of music creativity at the age of seventeen when he picked up the guitar for the first time. Since then, he has played in numerous bands spanning the metal and emo genres before settling into his current band RANGES in 2013. RANGES is an instrumental post-rock band with an extensive recording catalogue including multiple vinyl releases through American label A Thousand Arms Music and European label dunk!records as well as Australian label Bird’s Robe Records and Chilean label Le Rock Psicophonique. RANGES has embarked on multiple US and European tours and has played music festivals such as dunk!festival in Ghent, Belgium and A Colossal Weekend in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The majority of RANGES releases have been recorded and mixed by C.J. who earned a degree from Berklee College of Music in Pro Tools.

Through RANGES, C.J. has had multiple songs placed in Polaris Snowmoblies and RZR commercials as well as VANS advertisements. Additionally, RANGES has worked closely with The Factory and director Adam Brummond on scoring projects including Brummond’s short film ‘Dying Breed’.

C.J. is the co-founder of American record label A Thousand Arms Music that specializes in vinyl releases from post-rock bands from all corners of the world.
